She is also excited to let the public, especially her supporters, discover the ‘new Angeline’ in her latest album. “Aside from the sexy themed album cover, I’m thrilled to share what’s new with me as a singer,” she said.

Aside from “Sana2x,” also part of the ‘Higher Love’ tracklist are “Nag-iisa Lang,” “Sino Ako Sa ‘Yo,” “Ako Na Lang,” “Ikaw Ang Aking Mundo,” “Babalik Kang Muli,” “Kung Sakali Man,” “Bring Back The Times,” “Hanggang Kailan Kita Mamahalin,” and “Higher Love.” Also included in the album are the minus one versions of her tracks plus the ‘diva mix’ of “Sana2x.”

Angel Locsin and Maja Salvador are both thrilled with how their slapping scene in “The Legal Wife” trailer became a hot topic among TV viewers and netizens. However, Angel confessed that it was difficult for her to do it.

“Slapping Maja, whom I consider like my little sister, was not as easy as it looked like on screen. Actually, I really avoid having scenes like that because I don’t want to hurt my co-actors,” said Angel, who will play the role of Monica in the story, the wife of Adrian (to be played by Jericho Rosales).

Just like the viewers who felt the ‘power slap’ of Angel, Maja strongly feels that the brave, real-life plot of “The Legal Wife” will get primetime viewers hooked every night.

“My character and Angel, Jericho, JC’s (de Vera) all have their life battles. And I think every viewer can connect to any of them. Because in real-life, we all experience love, pain and fighting back,” said Maja, who will give life to the character of Nicole.

“The Legal Wife” gathers some of the country’s best drama actors including Joem Bascon, Ahron Villena, Rio Locsin, Mark Gil, and Christopher de Leon. It is under the direction of Rory Quintos and Dado Lumibao.

‘Angustia’ is Rated R-18 by MTRCB, Not ‘X’ as Reported

$

Creative Programs, Inc. (CPI) would like to clarify that the film “Angustia” by Director Kristian Cordero, a participant in the Currents category in the recent Cinema One Originals Festival 2013, which was released on November 13 and ran until November 19, 2013 at three participating theaters, was given a rating of R-18 and not an X-rating by the Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

Angustia 3

The MTRCB advised CPI to communicate to its viewers to exercise proper discernment and consideration of the material.

“Angustia,” which stars Alex Medina, Jazmin Llana, Vic Loquias, Mitch Smith, and Maria Isabel Lopez, depicts the story of a young priest who pursues his missionary calling to convert the native population. He finds himself falling for a woman of indigenous origins, and his quest for religious conversion then leads him to anxiety and crime.

The MTRCB thus gave the film an R-18 rating since it contained or depicted religion-related images and/or scenes characterized by sexual content and faith-related contradictions, with certain scenes and language that may offend religious sensibilities.

The Permit to Exhibit from the MTRCB states:

“A young priest pursues his missionary calling to convert the native population. His quest for religious conversion leads him to anxiety and crime.

“The Committee unanimously rates the movie R-18. The film contains or depicts religion-related images and/or scenes characterized by sexual content and faith-related contradictions. There are disturbing scenes and language that may offend religious sensibilities.

“For proper discernment and consideration of adult viewers which will likely include Christian believers, this advisory must be reproduced and printed not only in the permit, but also in all publicity materials and collaterals.

“The Committee makes the following remarks:

· The priest is a consecrated person and therefore should be depicted with proper respect. The portrayal of any weaknesses of frailties in regard to this character must be subject to careful discernment, and thus, merits a mature audience.

· Baptism is the sacrament by which a person becomes a child of God. Its portrayal in any compromising manner must be done very carefully.

· The host is sacred and should be treated with the highest respect as being the Body of Christ — Christ himself, under the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist according to the Catholic faith. Subjecting it to any compromising or adverse depiction must necessarily be done before a very mature and discerning audience.

· Some scenes in the film are unsettling for those below 18 years old or those in their formative years. (In fact, even adults, if not secure in religious and doctrinal formation, may also be shaken by sensitive scenes). We in the Board are mandated to look after the welfare of the youth. These are scenes which might misguide and provide a wrong impression of Catholicism. The concern here is serious and urgent as the film is not a catechetical work, and there is hardly any room for correct and adequate religious or doctrinal instruction, or even information to non-believers as to the true import of matters of belief.”

It is with this that the restrictions were therefore aptly imposed.

Given these concerns, CPI wishes to appropriately inform the audience of the sensitive content of “Angustia”.

The father of the fifth Miss International winner from the Philippines has brought his feelings, and his side of story on Facebook on January 8, three days after the beauty queen told The Buzz ng Bayan on ABS-CBN that they were abandoned by their father when they were still kids, which made them move to Canada.

Bea Rose might have gotten the sympathy of the public but not for too long as her father already spoken out against her, threatening to sue the beauty queen if she won’t make a public apology.

“Your propensity to lie just like your mother may cost you your Ms. International Crown!,” the angry told his daughter on a Facebook post.

“The X Factor Philippines” grand winner KZ Tandingan started her new year on a high note after she bagged the P1 million jackpot prize in “The Singing Bee” last Saturday (January 11).

KZ bested fellow challengers and singers Frenchie Dy, Sitti Navarro, Duncan Ramos, and Nyoy Volante, and four-week defending champion Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago. KZ is the second millionaire for the current season of “The Singing Bee” following actress Sheryl Cruz, who also won the P1 million jackpot last December.

After KZ’s victory, “The Singing Bee” is again in search of its new champion, or new millionaire, this week since the championship seat has been unoccupied. Cast members of ABS-CBN’s newest sitcom “Home Sweetie Home” John Lloyd Cruz, Toni Gonzaga, Sandy Andolong, Rico J. Puno, and Jayson Gainza take a break from comedy as they try their luck in the hit musical game show this Saturday (January 18). Who among them will win and become the new defending champion? Will one of them again take home the P1 million jackpot prize?
