Last night’s results of Mister Philippines 2014 pageant surprised majority of the audience, the press, and even some members of the Board of Judges.

MrP

From the three title holders, Mister Philippines Universe 2014 Mark Del Rosario (Cavite); Mister Philippines Planet 2014 Richard Mojado (Lipa City); and Mister Philippines Tourism 2014 Rickson Logaspi (Baguio City), it was only Legaspi who deserved a place in the top three, says critique-friends who watched the pageant from start to finish. To which this blogger agrees. Below photos would testify to that.

No offense meant to the winners and the judges but the witty, charming and good looking first runner-up Charles Palomar of Makati was even more deserving than the two who snatched the crown. Second runner-up Jefferson Milan (Batangas City) was just okay with the placement though, however, others who didn’t make the cut were more deserving than him as well.

Host Wilma Doesnt who herself was a product of a pageant search in 1995 expressed disappointment either, but she expressed it in the mildest manner she can.

Handed by the official results, Doesnt asked the organizers twice to confirm that she’s gonna announce the official results. Here’s the proof:

Before she announced the winner, the model-actress even commented “we only have two candidates left: ang isang overconfident at isang parang natatae.” The audience laughed in agreement to her comment.

Doesnt was joined by Mister World 2012 first runner-up Andrew Wolf as hosts of the pageant.

Even politician-actress Daisy Reyes, a member of the panel of judges was not happy with the results. Asked for her comment on whether she has a favorite, the council woman replied, “Kanina meron na sana akong gusto, kaya lang hindi s’ya nakapasok [sa Top 5].”

As of this writing, several netizens have already reacted negatively on this year’s outcome of the five-year old pageant, which sends Filipino delegates in international competitions.

Personally, while this blogger predicted the win of who we believed deserve the titles earlier this week (read the post here), there were a few, that were not part of our list, who shone the brightest tonight. However, like our early favorites, they suffered loss as well.
